- Drink liquids with a modified texture, preferably between meals.

- Take a small amount at once, using dessert spoons if needed.
- Increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables. Take special care when crushing them so that there are no seeds, fibres or skins that can cause choking.
- Don't wait until you feel thirsty to drink.
- Cold drinks are preferred as they help in swallowing.
- Increase your fluid intake during hot weather, and before, during, and after exercise or walking.
